About the Property

This 14-story, 224,000 sq. ft. office tower was designed by world renowned architect Pietro Belluschi. In 1982, Commonwealth received a prestigious award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA), given to buildings that have withstood the test of time. When the award was presented, Mr. Frank Gehry, said the award was given in recognition of the building being a masterpiece of aesthetics, technology and engineering. It is constructed of reinforced concrete and utilized the latest in concrete technology, allowing Belluschi to reduce the dimensions of the frame to an absolute minimum. The Commonwealth Building is LEED Gold and Energy Star certified and is included in the National Registry of Historic Places. The Commonwealth lobby features a mural designed by the architect to create an aesthetically enticing professional environment.
